What key metrics signal that an early-stage consumer product is ready to scale?

In validation, you’re not proving you can sell a few heads of garlic—you’re proving you can sell it repeatedly, profitably, to a specific type of buyer. My signals that it's time to scale are: 1) Repeat rate: Not sure the exact number, but maybe 30–40% reorder within a normal consumption cycle (or strong subscription/standing orders). The first order you get from a customer is curiosity. The second order means satisfaction. 2) Unit economics: consistent landed COGS, packaging, and fulfillment with a margin you can defend as volume grows. I'm OK with a little bit of “we’ll fix it later” but you should have evidence that these fixes are based on volume, not some un-yet-discovered optimization. 3) Pull: customers refer, ask for more, or pre-order—without heavy discounting. This will show up as a low CAC 4) Channel fit: one acquisition channel works predictably.
Volume matters only after these are true.
