Is operating a startup in stealth mode an effective strategy for early validation?

Hi,
I think it’s mostly overrated.
Ideas are cheap. Execution is hard. The danger usually isn’t that someone steals your idea; it’s that nobody wants it. And stealth mode can keep you from learning that until you’ve burned months and money.
There are exceptions: patents, regulated spaces, truly novel tech, sensitive partnerships. Fine. Be discreet.
But for most startups, secrecy is a crutch. Talk to customers. Show ugly prototypes. Let the market punch holes in your assumptions early.
Don’t protect the idea. Get it out there and find out what the world thinks of it.
